Course description
This course looks at identifying domestic violence perpetrators, giving safe messages and making appropriate referrals upon identification. It will also explore theoretical perspectives around domestic violence, the links to substance misuse and the perpetrator's choice to use violence.

- To gain a basic understanding of domestic violence and the links to substance use
- To understand why and how violence and abuse are used
- To gain skills to identify perpetrators and give safe messages regarding the cause of their violence
- To learn about perpetrator programmes from practitioners working in this field
- To learn how to improve your agency's response to domestic violence.
Who should attend?
Ideal for drug and alcohol workers who wish to develop their skills to address domestic violence perpetration by their clients.
This course will help develop the skills and knowledge to support the following DANOS units:

AJ2 - Enable individuals to change their offending behaviour
