Calling the Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline - a walkthrough
Information on what happens when your friend / family member contacts the Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline.
Calling the Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline
When your friend / family member calls the Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline on 0800 408 1552, Warwickshire County Council operatives will be able to give them information, and signpost them to an appropriate support service, such as Warwickshire Domestic Violence Support Services.
If your friend needs the Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline to call them back - that is available, but they should remember that a Warwickshire number will come up if they are using a mobile phone, or some landline services.
Opening hours
The Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
Outside of these hours, your friend / family member should call 0808 2000 247, the freephone 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline, run in partnership between Women's Aid and Refuge.
Calls from most landlines to the Warwickshire Domestic Abuse helpline are free, and not itemised on bills.
If in doubt, or your friend is calling from a mobile, they should check with their telephone provider.
Please remember that:
- Your friend does not have to give their name if they don’t want to
- Your friend is in control, and can put the phone down at any time
- The operative is there to listen and take any information that your friend wants to give, such as:
- Requests for assistance
- Information requests
- Reporting of incidents/perceived incidents
- Any information your friend gives is treated in the strictest confidence (unless there are serious concerns around child protection)
- If your friend wishes, the information they give can then be sent to a support agency, such as Warwickshire Domestic Violence Support Services.
